On the occasion of UNESCO's celebration of the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage 2020, the United Music Foundation has completed, in Geneva, the preservation of the archives of the great Brazilian singer-songwriter Mário de Castro.
Found during research in Brazil in 2016, this collection of 10 audio tapes gathers several musical projects,to which Mário de Castro has taken part in France and in Brazil during the 1970's and 1980's.
It namely includes work tapes of the "Dracula I Love You" album sessions, recorded in collaboration with Brazilian singer-songwriter Tuca (mostly famous in Europe for her collaboration with Françoise Hardy on her album "La Question"), and with Brazilian plastic artist and writer Jeannette Priolli. These tapes allow to better understand the creative process of this much sought-after major work which the United Music Foundation is hoping to restore.
This collection also includes a solo album recorded in Paris in the early 70's with legendary Brazilian percussionist Naná Vasconcelos, several recordings made under the name of Rex Taylor, as well as many demos.
This preservation work was carried out in Geneva with the collaboration of Mário de Castro and his family.
