Claude Ischer Collection
Preservation of Recordings by Jazz Legends

On the occasion of UNESCO's celebration of the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage 2022, the United Music Foundation pays tribute to Swiss sound engineer Claude Ischer (1941-2021) with the preservation, in high resolution, of part of his exceptional master tape collection of jazz legends, including rare or unreleased music recorded either in studio or in concert.

These treasures were entrusted to the United Music Foundation by Claude Ischer's family members, thus avoiding their loss or destruction.

Among the jazz legends whose recordings were preserved in high resolution: Julian "Cannonball" Adderley, Count Basie, Sidney Bechet, Les Brown, Bill Evans, Stan Getz, Terry Gibbs, Benny Goodman, Woody Herman, Billie Holiday, Thad Jones, Max Kaminsky, Mel Lewis, Claude Luter, Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins, Zoot Sims, Art Tatum, etc.

The United Music Foundation has produced this preservation project thanks to a subvention from the City of Geneva.
