Sound quality throughout is exemplary. The discs are housed in an attractive, oversized hardcover book of 40 pages. Alan Jackson’s comprehensive essay features Petula’s own memories of the evening (and her generous tributes to the musicians and behind the scenes personnel), along with fascinating nuts-and-bolts details about the concert.

Track-by-track notes are also provided for each song performed, and a “Who’s Who” of talent have provided new appreciations including Tony Hatch, Burt Bacharach, Stevie Wonder, Richard Carpenter, Leslie Bricusse, and the late Francis Lai. The package is lavishly illustrated with photography of the concert and rare memorabilia.

The Second Disc (U.S.A.)

[...] Petula Clark: A Valentine’s Day Concert at The Royal Albert Hall is—without a doubt—one of the most deluxe and elaborate repackaging products I have seen in ages, and it truly deserves attention.

The sound is pristine, the orchestra sounds lush, and Clark sings the hell out of every song, all of which makes this a real treat from beginning to end.

The New York Independent (U.S.A.)

A decade after the U.S. debut of "Downtown," Clark was on stage at London's venerated Royal Albert Hall for a Valentine's Day concert, a memorable evening of song that has not been heard in full again since that day in 1974.

That changes this month with the release of a lovingly-compiled set through the auspices of the Switzerland-based United Music Foundation, an organization with a mission to preserve, enhance and spotlight endangered musical recording heritage, and, when financially possible, to make those recordings available to the public.

Billboard (U.S.A.)

Femme actuelle (France)

Petula Clark royale à l'Albert Hall. Stevie Wonder, Burt Bacharach, Roberta Flack, James Taylor… A Valentine’s Day at the Royal Albert Hall. Tout, sauf de la gadoue…
